With his quintet Felix Ambach builds a gentle, comforting sound world with a unique blend of clarinet, vibraphone, and electric guitar. While rooted in the tradition of Jazz improvisation this project draws inspiration from Ambient and Folk music.
The foundation of the band is the deep connection and trust between the musicians. Bassist Roger Kintopf and drummer Ambach have been playing music together for over half their lives. Starting out as a trio featuring clarinet player Julius Gawlik (NDR Big Band, Jim Black) in 2020 the band won the Young German Jazz Price, Hi Five Jazz Award and the jazz@undesigned scholarship (all in 2021).
After their debut release, “live” (stssts records), the trio expanded featuring acclaimed NYC guitar sensation Emmanuel Michael (Marcus Gilmore, Gerald Clayton) and UK vibraphonist Jonathan Mansfield (Kenny Wheeler Prize).
